The Pikvm team has chosen to design devices that are broadly applicable to almost any situation, while this clone implementation is pretty narrowly scoped to desktop machines that have an available slot.
I wasn’t recommending the other one. I was simply asking if the Pikvm team was planning to design something similar.
Removing the link feels pretty weird ngl. It’s not like I was recommending it….
We removed the link primarily because as clones they don’t pay any licensing fees or contribute in any meaningful way to the software (or hardware) development of the official PiKVMs, and we don’t want people to get the wrong impression that just because it has KVM in the name and might run with Pi components that it is actually a PiKVM product.
No harm no foul, and there are definitely a large variety of use cases where specialized setups might be useful, but PiKVM encourages users to buy the official (very well designed and fairly rugged/industrial) systems or DIY and at the very least use supported and tested parts to avoid issues stemming from poor QC from the race to the bottom of the pricing pile.
