I just purchased a v4 plus and two switches, everything works fine except the 2nd switch. It lights up and I can select the ports just fine in the UI, but I’m getting “NO VIDEO SOURCE” on the two hosts I have plugged into the second one.
Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?
If you switch it to be the first switch in the chain does it work?
Are you using the short HDMI cables included with the switches or other ones?
Did you perform the firmware update of the switches and power cycle them?

I have them velcro’d to a rack in the back of a cabinet and will have to try this later. Besides troubleshooting, does it matter in which order they are in?

I’m using the cables that were included.

Yes
No, the order doesn’t matter in general use, though if you have 5 units that is 5 tiers of USB hubs, and sometimes things get a little squirrelly
It is primarily for troubleshooting, plus the first one in the chain gets checked for new firmware and upgraded and then as the others restart it sort of passes along the updates as I understand it.
That said once in a while a bad unit happens and it is good to confirm whether the behavior happens when it is directly attached to the PiKVM or just further downstream which could mean a bad cable vs a bad unit, or just certain targets being finicky and needing a full reboot after being plugged into the switch if they were running .
I’m sorry, I’m an idiot. After unplugging everything and removing my shelf from my cabinet, I had noticed that I had plugged in the uplink to the downlink in the same switch. I was working with minimal visibility, but I should’ve checked before posting.
Thank you for your reply and everything is working great. I’m glad I made the purchase.
