Black screen in KVM mode DP-> HDMI->PiKVM-Plus4

I am getting

Hardware:

  • PiKVM v4 Plus

  • Powered via 12V barrel jack

  • HDMI from server → PiKVM HDMI IN

  • Browser access

  • Computer side: it has only DP ports, so I am using DP to HDMI (female) → HDMI cable → PiKVM HDMI IN

Issue 1 — No HDMI Signal
The PiKVM interface shows:

  • “No signal”

  • 640×480

  • 0 fps

I confirmed the following:

  • The PiKVM is powered correctly via 12V

  • The Web UI loads normally

  • HDMI cable is connected to the PiKVM’s HDMI IN port

  • Server is powered on

  • PiKVM ATX controls are working

But the capture window always shows a black screen with no signal.

This is the first time I am using it. I just opened it today, ordered this device a year ago.

What could be the issue here?

HDMI and DP are both digital signals but they aren’t directly compatible. You need a DP++ port with a passive adapter or an active adapter, Visiontek makes some nice ones.
