Has anyone tried “sideloading” software onto PiKVM from arch repos? I’m thinking of doubling the device as a wifi access point and running a pi-hole in a docker container.
Yes, sometimes. There is no (yet) good way to run everything together, so be sure you have local access to device in case of software issue.

One more quick question: what’s the deal with that 23GiB empty partition mounted under /var/lib/kvmd/msd? Can it be repurposed for something else?
